Dr. Bronner’s Announces 2022 Recipients of International Philanthropy in Support of Social Justice, Animal Protection, and Environmental Sustainability Around the World

International Program of Top-Selling Natural Brand of Soap in U.S. Promotes “Global Mission and Local Impact”

April 19, 2023

VISTA, CA – Dr. Bronner’s, the global organic and fair trade soap and body care brand, is proud to announce 2022 recipients of funding through the company’s All-One International Initiative. Concluding its successful fourth year, this international philanthropy program seeks to ensure mission-aligned advocacy is supported in the markets where the company sells its products outside the United States, which is at the heart of the company’s global growth strategy.

Long known for its philanthropy in the U.S., over its 75-year history Dr. Bronner’s has given approximately $100 million to support charity and activism related to core causes such as: regenerative organic agriculture, animal advocacy, community betterment, criminal justice reform, drug policy reform, and fair pay and fair trade. The All-One International Initiative was created to spread this focus on giving and activism outside the U.S. Through the initiative, at a minimum, 1% of Dr. Bronner’s sales to participating international markets each year is donated to local advocacy efforts in support of social justice, animal protection, and environmental sustainability around the world. Depending on the market and available resources, local distributors of Dr. Bronner’s may contribute additional funds to the program.

“As a company priority, the Dr. Bronner’s All-One International Initiative ensures our brand activism will have an impact in markets where our products are sold around the world; and will ensure that our impact is aligned with our local partners and what is relevant to them,” says Michael Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner’s. “Our distributors are deeply inspired by the extraordinary organizations we are supporting and are excited to help elevate awareness of these causes globally.”

Between 2019 and 2022, Dr. Bronner’s contributed an estimated $760,500 through the All-One International Initiative. 18 markets participated in the All-One International Initiative in 2022: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, The Netherlands, Panama, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Bronner’s generated approximately $169 million in revenue in 2022 and gave an estimated $8.5 million in total to fund charity and activism.

Dr. Bronner’s All-One International Initiative supports a wide range of organizations working across the intersections of social justice, animal protection, and environmental sustainability. The program takes an “ecosystems approach” to its support of causes and activism—believing that change is driven by movements, and effective movements are best comprised of a healthy, diverse, and equitable ecosystem of organizations, projects, people, and strategies. The program supportsgrassroots groups working on limited budgets as well as larger nonprofits in need of funding for specific projects.  All-One! isn’t just a slogan for Dr. Bronner’s. It’s a value system the company is employing across the world.

“All-One! is an idea rooted in social justice—that’s why we support organizations that work to end homelessness, hunger, poverty, and systemic racism, as well groups that support migrant justice, Indigenous rights, LGBTQ communities, and serve youth in need. Because human rights and human needs go hand in hand with protecting the Earth and the other creatures we share it with, our All-One! values also drive us to support environmental organizations working to protect imperiled ecosystems and promote regenerative organic agriculture, as well as work to protect non-human animals. Our partners in animal advocacy provide education on the benefits of plant-based nutrition and improve access to healthier food; work to expose and change inhumane factory farm practices through legislation and corporate practices; and run animal sanctuaries that provide haven from animal exploitation and abuse,” Michael Bronner continued.

In 2022, Dr. Bronner’s All-One International Initiative financially supported 41 organizations and efforts around the world. In addition to providing funding totaling over $254,000 in 2022, Dr. Bronner’s and its distributors also supported partner organizations in the All-One International Initiative by raising awareness through social media, providing product donations, event collaboration, and cause marketing efforts.
