Dr. Bronner’s Nonprofit Partners are Making a Better World for Animals and All of Us
By Lauren Stansbury
Animal Advocacy is a core cause of Dr. Bronner’s philanthropic giving. By the end of 2022 the company will have donated more than $4 million (since 2013) to support work to end the systemic exploitation and suffering of animals.
This Giving Tuesday, you too can support organizations that advocate for healthier and more sustainable food systems, provide sanctuary to previously exploited animals, and build peaceful communities around plant-based eating and vegan lifestyles. Need even more reasons to give? These mighty nonprofit organizations are also BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Women-led!
Black Veg Society
Black Veg Society is on a mission to educate predominantly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities about the benefits of plant-based diets and veganism, and aid the transition to a plant-based lifestyle. Their work builds community around healthy, accessible, and sustainable food, and focuses on promoting compassionate lifestyle choices that “meet you where you are.” This Giving Tuesday, you can double your impact as all donations will be matched up to $10,000 by an anonymous donor.
Through its online resource center, Black Veg Society provides free cooking demos, wellness classes, and referrals to certified health and wellness coaches. They host special community events to spur engagement in vegan and plant-based campaigns and coalitions. We love Executive Director Naijha Wright-Brown’s YouTube show for informative video conversations on topics ranging from “The Spirit of Soul Food” to “What is Food Empowerment” and more. She even interviewed David Bronner earlier this year!

VINE Sanctuary
VINE is an LGBTQ-led farmed animal sanctuary that works for social and environmental justice as well as for animal liberation. During November, all donations will be matched in VINE’s Raise The Roof for Roosters! challenge to support VINE’s leading work in rehabilitating rescued roosters previously exploited in cockfighting. Their approach is a model for sanctuaries and advocates around the world.
Dr. Bronner’s partnered with LUSH, Sara Murray, Stray Dog Institute, and others in a matching campaign that has raised $150,000 to support VINE’S programs in 2022! Join us in supporting the work of this solar-powered sanctuary which illuminates an ecofeminist, intersectional perspective of the ways humans hurt animals, each other, and the environment. Curious to learn more? Subscribe to VINE Sanctuary co-founder pattrice jones’ podcast “In Context” for an ongoing discussion of timely questions facing animal advocates within the broader ecosystem of social and environmental justice work.
