Emollients: These fill in the cracks between skin flakes, replacing lost lipids. There are two fatty acids that do this particularly well: linoleic and alpha-linoleic fatty acids, neither of which, the body can produce on its own. They are readily found in a wide variety of nuts, seeds, and leafy vegetables including safflower, wheat germ, sunflower, and hemp oils. The organic Hemp oil in Dr. Bronner’s soaps acts as an emollient.
