Dr. Bronner’s Europe to Join Sea Shepherd Global for Series of Events Sept. 26-Oct. 2 in Amsterdam to Celebrate New Ship

Partnership Between Top-Selling Brand and Global Conservation Organization Seeks to Promote Awareness of Ocean Conservation and Animal Protection

AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND – Dr. Bronner’s Europe, the Germany-based outpost of the global top-selling natural soap and body care brand, will celebrate with marine wildlife conservation organization, Sea Shepherd Global in Amsterdam, Holland from September 26 – October 2. Together, the two will join a variety of conservation advocates and supporters to unveil and exhibit the latest addition to Sea Shepherd’s fleet, Ocean Warrior.

Dr. Bronner’s is known around the world for their support of environmental and social activism. The brand sponsored Sea Shepherd with a grant of $25,000 this year and has donated soap, body care and food products to supply crewmembers on Sea Shepherd campaigns throughout the year. Dr. Bronner’s Europe staff will travel from Dusseldorf, Germany to Amsterdam to celebrate the unveiling, and offer information and samples of Dr. Bronner’s products at a stall next to Sea Shepherd’s merchandise booth during a series of events to unveil the new ship. The company will also sell exclusive co-branded Dr. Bronner’s and Sea Shepherd merchandise to raise funds for future campaigns.

“Sea Shepherd’s direct-action oriented approach to the conservation of the world’s oceans and protection of marine wildlife is truly inspiring and we are so proud to witness the unveiling of their new ship,” says Axel Rungweber, CEO of Dr. Bronner’s Europe. “Dr. Bronner’s and Sea Shepherd share a set of ethics and beliefs that ground both our organizations. As a company we are humbled and deeply impressed by the individuals who make up Sea Shepherd. Their commitment to confronting injustice and making a positive change in the world is unprecedented,” continued Rungweber.

Ocean Warrior was designed by Sea Shepherd and built by the Dutch company, Damen. After 18 months of construction, the ship was completed in July of this year. Purchased thanks to the support and generosity of the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the People’s Postcode Lottery in the United Kingdom and the Svenska Postkod Stiftelsen in Sweden, Ocean Warrior is now the fifth vessel in Sea Shepherd Global’s current fleet of conservation ships, and the fifteenth in the organization’s history.

“This is a momentous occasion for Sea Shepherd, and for all of our supporters. It’s also a horrible occasion for poachers. The launch of Ocean Warrior marks a new era for our organization, as we now have a ship with the speed and capabilities to match the fastest poaching vessels in the world,” said CEO of Sea Shepherd Global, Captain Alex Cornelissen. “Sea Shepherd is thrilled to have the support of Dr. Bronner’s for the launch and unveiling of Ocean Warrior. It’s so refreshing these days, in which economic growth and profit seems to rule the world, to work with a company that has a deep understanding of the consequences of our actions on the planet,” continued Cornelissen.

Sea Shepherd is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Founded in 1977, their mission is to end the habitat destruction and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans, in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and marine species.
