Founded in 2011, Hemp History Week is a nationwide campaign of the Hemp Industries Association dedicated to educating consumers about the ecological and health benefits of hemp products; rally grassroots support for hemp farming legislation; and, change federal law to legalize hemp farming in the U.S. In December of 2018, with the passage of the Farm Bill, the campaign achieved this goal, as industrial hemp was defined as cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC by dry weight, and was thereby defined as distinct from ‘marijuana’ and removed from Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act.

Special event guests include Ashley Koff, RD, CEO of the Better Nutrition Program and longtime Hemp History Week supporter; Hemp History Week Featured Farmers; Executive Director of the Hemp Industries Association Colleen Keahey Lanier; David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner’s, and Mike Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner’s; and other leading figures in the hemp farming movement. Hemp farming activist and author, Doug Fine will be MC for the concert portion; and the event will include a special video address from California State Governor Gavin Newsom.

The event will also feature education stations, with information and hemp products from sponsors: Hemp Industries Association, Dr. Bronner’s, Plus +CBD Oil, Barlean’s, Tree Free Hemp, Manitoba Harvest, and Pacific Foods. Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid in an auction for a guitar made from hemp composite bio-plastic, courtesy of Silver Mountain Hemp Guitars.

A founding sponsor, steadfast supporter, and financial anchor of Hemp History Week over the past decade, Dr. Bronner’s support for the Hemp History Week campaign is but one facet of the company’s commitment to hemp farming in the United States. Dr. Bronner’s played a key role in generating public support for the federal legalization of hemp farming through the 2018 Farm Bill.
